Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance with the ability to work effectively in a high-paced manufacturing environment. This role is critical in ensuring our production equipment is maintained and operates efficiently to support seamless operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and longevity of machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and improve machine efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and adjustments.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to optimize equipment performance.
  • Assist in training operators on proper equipment usage and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in developing and executing Documented Preventive Maintenance plans for all equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ability to create a Maintenance ticketing and priority process for the immediate future with long term goal of identifying potential Computerized Maintenance Management Systems for an ever evolving and efficient Maintenance process.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • A minimum of 2 – 5 years of proven experience in a fast-paced large scale manufacturing environment, performing repair and maintenance.
  • Preferred:
    • A background in Pressroom and Bindery Manufacturing is a plus.
    • Additional certifications in relevant fields such as hydraulics, pneumatics, or industrial safety are a plus.
    • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation technologies is a significant advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including ability to troubleshoot and facilitate a repair to bring the equipment online quickly and follow up to ensure longevity of the repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with operators, supervisors, and technical teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Skilled in identifying potential issues before they cause breakdowns and taking proactive measures to address them.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety protocols and the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and compliance requirements in an industrial setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed.
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing environments that may include exposure to noise, heat, or other conditions typical of production facilities.
  • Must have personal tools (specialty tools provided by the company).
