Building a brand can take time. It also takes a certain tenacity. And at times, it takes a creativity that can feel a bit outside of our comfort zone.
For many businesses, an online store with branded merchandise may feel like a waste. “We’re a widget company, not a clothing or sticker company.”
We’ve heard this basic statement more than once. And that’s fine. But what if business executives thought of eCommerce as a way to build the brand with awareness, ambassadors, and more?

Brand awareness
First, having an eCommerce store full of branded items can help with brand awareness. Anyone who orders items, or if you give some away, will help make more people aware of your brand.
Also, having a store online can help with digital awareness. Done right, an eCommerce site can help with search rankings and even shareability.
Buzz
Second, an online store with interesting items – the latest fashions or hot items – can help create a buzz about your brand. Imagine having an online store with those fidget spinners right as they became popular for that hot minute. The kind of buzz your store could create just might help with things like brand awareness, through a natural buzz.
Brand affinity
When you offer the right items in your online brand store, you help create an affinity for your brand. When I was a customer of a huge marketing software company, they’d occasionally send me fun items – can coozies, ping pong balls, mini football – and I’d visit the store for other items.
When I’d find the right item that fit my tastes, I felt an affinity to that brand. When I used that thing – or wore it – I’d have a good feeling. And at the end of the day, people remember feelings more than facts.
