EPI Marketing Services Employees Volunteer and Make an Impact
Each year the South Michigan Food Bank’s “Fresh Food Distributions” provide an average of 22 pounds of fresh produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and other fresh items to 140 families at each of its 100 sites. In June, EPI employees volunteered their time to help those in need.
When EPI was approached to participate in the program, employees were quick to volunteer. “We put out the call asking EPI employees to volunteer and there was a significant and immediate response,” says President Mitch Maurer. “Our employees enthusiastically stepped up to the plate.” Maurer says he was not surprised by the response. “We have an incredible team of people here at EPI and they always show up for each other, and for others. It is heartwarming to see so many people offer their time to help others.”
During their designated volunteer hours, EPI employees helped feed over 1,600 families in South Michigan. They packed 871 bags of cereal in the Clean Room and and 775 fresh food boxes. “Both teams were so enthusiastic about helping their community,” Says SWFB Engagement Director, Donielle Hetrick. “We absolutely loved hosting them! Thank you all again for joining the movement to end hunger!”
In 2021, the South Michigan Food Bank provided 5.8 million pounds of fresh items throughout its eight-county service area. Volunteers who donate time help to pack food for families in need to ensure they have access to healthy options and well-rounded meals.
