Setup and Maintenance Technician


Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Setup and Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or mechanical setup and maintenance, with the ability to work effectively in a high-paced manufacturing environment. This role is critical in ensuring our production equipment is set up, maintained, and operates efficiently to support seamless operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform setup and adjustment of manufacturing equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and longevity of machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and improve machine efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and adjustments.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to optimize equipment performance.
  • Assist in training operators on proper equipment usage and minor maintenance tasks.

Qualifications:

1. Education and Experience:

  • Preferred:
    • 2-year technical certificate or Experience in electrical or mechanical setup, industrial maintenance, or a related field; OR
    • A minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, performing setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Preferred:
    • Additional certifications in relevant fields such as PLC programming, hydraulics, pneumatics, or industrial safety are a plus.

2. Technical Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing motors, conveyors, gear systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals for equipment setup and repair.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation technologies (significant advantage).
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills (bonus).

3. Preventive Maintenance Expertise:

  • Experience in developing and executing preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Skilled in identifying potential issues before they cause breakdowns and taking proactive measures to address them.

4. Soft Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with operators, supervisors, and technical teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high-quality standards.

5. Safety and Compliance:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety protocols and the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and compliance requirements in an industrial setting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Must have personal tools (specialty tools provided by the company).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed.
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing environments that may include exposure to noise, heat, or other conditions typical of production facilities.
