Why AIB Inspections Matter to the Food Industry
The warehousing and fulfillment of packaged food products requires some extra attention to detail. In order to maintain food safety and quality, it’s important manufacturers are adhering to best practices in the industry. One way to ensure your partner is committed to successfully handling your food products is through AIB inspections.
AIB Inspections
AIB International was created to “put science to work for bakers.” The organization provides training and certifications in food safety, setting the standard for quality and safety. They help companies ensure they’re complying with government regulations, as well as staying up-to-date with best practices by inspected them in five categories:
- Operational Methods and Personnel Practices – This step looks at the handling of products from initial entry into a facility through outgoing fulfillment to ensure that there are no risks to food safety introduced by people, processes or conditions.
- Maintenance for Food Safety – This category looks to ensure best practices for optimizing the design and care of both facility and equipment for ease of management and prevention of sanitation issues.
- Cleaning Practices – In this category, the AIB takes a thorough look at the cleaning and sanitation processes. This includes the methods and frequency of cleanings, as well as the chemicals used and the control of microbes.
- Integrated Pest Management – Pest management looks at measures in place to prevent pests and eliminate conditions that could promote a pest population, as well as the practices in place to remove pests should the need arise.
- Adequacy of Prerequisite Food Safety Programs – This final category is designed to review the internal documentation to ensure all departments are working together to deliver a safe product.
