Special Project: Year-End Holiday Gifts for Our Clients, Employees and Partners

Many businesses send end of the year gifts to clients, partners, vendors, prospects and even employees. Common gifts include calendars, treats and greeting cards. This year, EPI Marketing Services decided to try something new.

While brainstorming about how to leave an impact on recipients, Vice President Mitch Maurer and Marketing Manager Dan Moyle discussed the idea that “people don’t remember exactly what you say or do, but they do remember how you make them feel.”

Because the holiday season from Thanksgiving through Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s often includes gatherings and special memories, the pair decided that sending “the usual” branded goodies just wouldn’t cut it this year. Instead, they looked through the games Delano Games – an EPI affiliated business – helps game makers produce. Maybe there was a game EPI could co-brand in some fun way, and send to people to help bring joy to the season and help them make new memories.

One such game seemed to lend itself to special branding – Fluxx from Looney Labs. The company already offered various versions of the game, it was a family-friendly offering that seemed simple enough to start playing right away and EPI had a good relationship with the game maker.

Dan and Mitch got right to work with the team to reach out to Looney Labs to ask about partnering on the project, looking at artwork and writing copy for the game box that matched EPI’s message.

Some of the challenges the team faced included a tight time schedule, kitting and shipping for the games that wouldn’t be hand-delivered, plus the design of a greeting card that would fit in the packaging.

Fortunately, EPI Marketing Services has a great team that gelled to put it all together. From the greeting card design to the Looney Labs-approved branded boxes to the cello-wrapping, kitting, packaging and shipping of the cards and games, the 2018 holiday gift project happened with help from many teams at EPI and Delano Games.
